Service & Data Policy

This policy explains the cloud-data allowances, AI Analysis allowances, and service limits that currently apply to the DistillAI license and to DistillAI subscriptions. It forms part of the DistillAI Terms of Service.

1. Own or Subscribe

There are two ways to use DistillAI, and either one is enough on its own.

• Own it. Buy the DistillAI 1.x license once for $99. Capture, AI Session and AI Valet work normally with the AI accounts you already sign in to — no API keys needed. The license does not include DistillAI-funded AI Analysis runs, so AI Analysis uses your own AI-provider API credentials.
• Subscribe. Pay monthly for Starter, Pro, or Power. Your subscription includes DistillAI-funded AI Analysis runs and a plan-specific cloud allowance.

2. What the license covers

The DistillAI 1.x license grants perpetual use of the DistillAI software: version 1.0 and every subsequent 1.x release. A future 2.0 release may require a separate license.

For AI Analysis, license holders use supported AI providers with their own API credentials. Charges imposed by those providers are the customer's responsibility and are paid directly to the applicable provider. BYOK API credentials are encrypted and stored locally on the customer's device as described in the Terms of Service.

3. Current Plans and Allowances

*Approximate conversation counts are planning estimates based on current DistillAI usage patterns. Actual capacity varies. The stated MB allowance is the controlling storage limit. Prices shown are current as of the date above, exclude applicable taxes, which are calculated at checkout, and may change in accordance with the Terms of Service.

4. Cloud Data Allowances

DistillAI stores account and application data in its cloud service, including conversation-related information. Each plan has a maximum cloud-data allowance as shown above.

If you hold both a license and a subscription, the larger of the two allowances applies — they are not added together. A Starter subscriber who has earned the license therefore has the license's 100 MB allowance rather than Starter's 25 MB.

At approximately 80% of the applicable allowance, DistillAI may notify you that your account is approaching its limit. At 100%, existing stored information may remain accessible, but additional cloud saves may be paused until you delete or export stored information, reduce usage, or move to a plan with a larger allowance.

We do not intend to delete existing content solely because you reach a storage limit.

5. Approximate Conversation Counts

Conversation counts are estimates, not guaranteed quotas. Actual storage use depends on factors such as prompt length, number and length of provider responses, AI Analysis content, metadata, and other information associated with a conversation.

If an estimated conversation count and the stated MB allowance differ, the MB allowance controls.

6. The Free Trial

New accounts begin with a 14-day trial that includes 10 DistillAI-funded AI Analysis runs in total — not 10 per month — using Grok 4.20, Claude Sonnet 5, and Gemini 3.6 Flash. Other models remain available during the trial using your own API credentials.

Trials are granted once per device. When the trial ends, or its 10 funded runs are used, everything already captured remains readable, searchable, and exportable; starting new captures and new AI Analysis runs requires the license or a subscription.

7. AI Analysis Allowances

Starter, Pro, and Power include a monthly allowance of DistillAI-funded AI Analysis usage as shown above. Subscription AI Analysis allowances reset each billing period and do not roll over to later periods unless DistillAI expressly states otherwise. The trial's 10 runs are a one-time total and do not reset.

If the included AI Analysis allowance is exhausted, DistillAI may pause additional DistillAI-funded AI Analysis runs until the next billing period or until an eligible upgrade or add-on is applied. Other DistillAI features may continue to function, including eligible BYOK functionality.

8. Plan Changes and Cancellation

If you move to a plan with a larger cloud allowance, the larger allowance may become available immediately or as soon as the plan change is processed.

If you move to a plan with a lower cloud allowance while your account already exceeds that allowance, DistillAI does not intend to immediately delete existing data. Additional cloud saves may instead be paused until usage is reduced below the new limit.

Cancelling a subscription does not remove paid months already accrued toward the license, and does not affect a license already purchased or earned. It does end DistillAI-funded AI Analysis and returns the account to the allowance its remaining entitlement provides.

9. Data Retention and Inactive Accounts

DistillAI generally retains cloud data while an account remains active and as needed to provide the service. DistillAI may establish reasonable retention periods for accounts that have been inactive for an extended period, including license-only accounts.

Where practicable, we will provide reasonable notice before deleting customer content under an inactivity policy. DistillAI does not promise to retain cloud data indefinitely.

10. Service Changes

We may modify plan allowances, technical limits, supported providers, or service requirements as DistillAI evolves. Material reductions affecting an existing paid subscription will be communicated with reasonable advance notice where practicable.

Temporary service restrictions may also occur because of maintenance, abuse prevention, third-party provider changes, outages, security concerns, or technical limitations.
